Stephen Curry is blazing a new trail by returning to his alma mater Davidson in the role of assistant general manager.University officials confirmed the move Monday, making the Golden State Warriors guard the first active player in U.S. major professional sports to take an administrative position with an NCAA team.Curry, who turns 37 on Friday, shined at the North Carolina school from 2006-09 before becoming an 11-time NBA All-Star, four-time champion and two-time league MVP with the Warriors.Curry will work with general manager Austin Buntz to “provide guidance to the men’s and women’s teams based on his college and professional experience,” according to ESPN.Along with his wife, Ayesha Curry, and longtime Davidson supporters Don, Matt and Eric Berman, Curry will also be launching an eight-figure fund for the Wildcats’ programs.
