Lunacy!

It was Charlton Heston who yelled in a cage, “It’s a madhouse! A madhouse” on that infamous scene on the original Planet of the Apes movie from the 1970’s. I feel like yelling that when describing the state of boxing after Saturday night’s bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas NV. at the MGM Grand. I have seen many if not most of Mayweather’s fights, so I was not surprised by the outcome and how it was done. He used his unique style of defense which I have not seen many emulate, which disrupts his opponent’s game plan causing them frustration at not being able to get inside and punch him. Mayweather subsequently winning a unanimous decision dominating the scorecards. Madhouse is everything in and around this fight from start to finish and even days out; some examples for you to chew on, The surreal and weird Burger King coming out with Mayweather and Justin Bieber, Jimmy Kimmel coming out with Pacquiao, a horrible National Anthem sung by Jamie Foxx, an admission of injury that probably affected the outcome of the fight by Pacquiao, a class action lawsuit for 5 million dollars by disgruntled pay per view customers and sports betters, and now talk of a rematch. Whew! And I know there still more zaniness to come, the question is does boxing need a strait jacket? Or do I? Come rematch time, I bet I’ll be hyped up again, and foolish enough to throw down the cash for this craziness again, I just can’t help myself…somebody get me a doctor!
