Jeff’s Journal

Look what we have here.  The NFL will play conference championship games this weekend and both the NFC and the AFC feature the top two seeds.  Number 1 will host number 2.   In a year that, I really thought was wide open; that almost anyone in the playoffs had a chance to get to the playoffs, here we are.  Tom Brady against Peyton Manning again.  The Panthers with MVP-to-be, Cam Newton, against Carson Palmer and the Cardinals.  And I think it should be great.  I would love to see Carson Palmer, who at 36 years old, just last week won his first playoff game, get to the Super Bowl with an exciting Cardinals team.  But the headline will be the latest, and perhaps final Manning vs. Brady showdown.  Two great story lines.  Can Peyton Manning ride off into the sunset on top, just like a former Bronco great, John Elway did?  Can Tom Brady, I think fueled by the “Deflate gate” debacle, win his 5th Super bowl and lay claim to the best ever…and be on stage with commissioner Roger Goodell who has been trying to skewer him?  Good theater this weekend.  Enjoy it as it plays out on 610 The Sports Animal.
