Where have all the Cowboys gone?
Ok Cowboy fans you’re not gonna like it, but I’m about to pile on and I think it’s well deserved. The Cowboys are 2-3 among a bunch of other mediocre teams in the NFC East so the chance to still take the division is a distinct possibility, but does anybody really think this is a playoff team? I know, I know, the injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant have put this team in a bad position, that’s the name of the game injuries happen and you can’t control it, but what about what you can control. The off season for one, is an example I refer to. Knowing that this team was unable to afford keeping DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant, the Cowboys had to make a decision, and I think they made the right one in keeping the star wide out, however I believe the Jones’ got complacent added with their ever present arrogance and had no real plan in replacing one of the league’s most prolific running backs, one who helped in creating a nice safety net for Tony Romo and settled for a running back by committee which always works (yea right). They kept saying through the off season that on paper they were confident with what they had. Now what they have is an anemic run game that is most needed in light of the quarterback situation with back up Brandon Weedon or Matt Cassel, another story for another day. I know business is business and you have to make moves based on the salary cap, but to tell your fans and the world that things will be ok is plain out horsepucky! There was the draft with which they could have acquired a good young back for the future and they could have planned out the departure of Murray a little better in free agency then they did. Yea the season is not over yet, and Romo and Bryant may return and they may still make a run at the playoffs but it’s not looking good and I’m not so sure even those players can operate with what the Jones’ built this season, Jerry and Stephen Jones keep telling yourselves everything’s gonna be alright, because for now no one is buying your bull.
