Another rough weekend around these parts for college football fans, and I sure hope it turns soon. Because, next week the calendar flips to October, and that often means the sports fan’s attention turns to basketball. The Lobos, after their loss at Arizona State are 1-2. The Aggies, after an excruciating loss to UTEP are 0-3. The weird part is, there is some hope. For UNM, their schedule will get much more manageable the rest of the way, as the Mountain West Conference does not appear to have a dominant team. For New Mexico State, as tough as blowing two 14-point leads in the 4th quarter to rival UTEP is, they have a good offense and have had a real shot to win their past two games at the end. The two will get together in their annual Rivalry of Enchantment game in Albuquerque on Oct. 3. Both will come in with a lot of hope. The winner, will maintain hope for a few more weeks. Here’s hoping they both get a few wins…..SOON and keep football season alive for a while here in New Mexico.
