Football season is coming

And you know what that means.  The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up to get that elusive 7th Super Bowl championship. No one’s done it before. Hell- no one has 6, but the Steelers do. Yep, the Black & Gold have parted ways with a number of veterans (Hines Ward, James Farrior) but they’ve also bolstered their offensive line and added some well needed depth to key defensive positions (such as Cornerback).

Of course, fans can only hope they’ll retain superstar WR Mike Wallace, but at this point, no one would be that surprised to see him go. While the ball is technically in the club’s favor, Wallace is holding out through training camp for more money, and no other team is likely to match the salary that the Steelers are contracted to pay him for the upcoming season.

And since I live in New York, it’s going to be that much more intolerable of a season since I’ll have to hear it from all these Giants fans with empty hopes of repeating. Don’t tell them though- in their head’s they’ve already won again.

In any case, they’ll be talking at least until November 4th, when week 9 brings the Black & Gold and their hardcore fans to whatever stadium the Giants are playing in now. (I think it’s called Dixon-Ticonderoga Stadium or something). With any luck, that’s the week the Steelers send the Jints to a lowly 3-9 record, causing astute followers of the game to finally call Big Blue’s season an early wash.
