WisePies Arena aka The Pit is now upon us.

The first game inside the newly named arena pits New Mexico against rival New Mexico State. Don't worry.  Despite the signs and name it's still "The Pit". No one is trying to take the name away from you. At the introduction press conference UNM athletic director Paul Krebs and representatives from WisePies both said the it's "The Pit" and will always be "The Pit". Business still needs to be done. The cash gift from WisePies is worth $5 million over 10 years. Krebs said the money will go towards paying off the debt from the 2009-10 renovation of the arena which should free up money for other athletic department needs. The only thing that will be different is a few logos on the court, building and throughout the arena. The Pit will be rocking as it always is and as both men's and women's basketball rolls on for New Mexico.
