Here we go!

We started getting calls this morning from Lobo fans who are turning the page to basketball season.  Already?!  It's October 1st as I write this.  The majority of the country is immersed in football:  Pro football and college football.  And here we are in New Mexico, with a 1-3 football team in Albuquerque…a 2-3 team in Las Cruces, and we're moving on. I understand it, I really do, but I hate it.  Full disclosure: Part of the reason I hate it is that I run a college football bowl game in December in Albuquerque and I want people to be in a "football mood".  But besides that, I love football season, just like most of the country does.  Football season is passion, pride and excitement.  Regional rivalries that provide a week's worth of fun throughout the final quarter of the year.  I can't wait for this state to experience that again.   And it all comes down to winning.  When the Lobos and Aggies start winning, I do believe people will be back on the football bandwagon.  And I hope that happens soon.   Because football is fun!  Yes, basketball is fun too, but it's different.  There is something different about football that most of the country gets to experience every year, and I can't wait for us to be able to enjoy that again.  Hopefully very soon!
