I love the fire.
Day in and day out, how many times do you hear it? It goes on all day long – people complaining, moaning, and carrying on about how negative life and people are. How they hate their jobs, how crushing life is, how the scenario of World War III is unfolding… really? Ha ha… yes that's true, I saw a post on Facebook where someone was having a pity party and actually posted that, ugh! Enough! If the following story doesn't put you in a better mood, or give you clearer perspective on life, then you better go see your doctor for some Xanax.
The story in brief is that of Apollos Hester, a wide receiver for East View High School in Austin TX, who rallied to beat Vandergrift 42-41 on Friday. The interview has gone viral and has some great quotes: "We started slow, that's ok cause sometimes in life you’re gonna start slow. We told ourselves, “That's ok. We're gonna keep going fast, but we're always gonna finish fast; no matter what the score was, we're gonna finish fast!" He continued with, "It took guts. It took an attitude. That's all it takes to be successful is an attitude! It's an awesome feeling when you truly believe that you’re going to be successful!" And for my favorite, "You can do anything you put your mind to. Never give up on your dreams. Keep smiling no matter what you’re going through, just get up! If you can't get up, your friends are there to help you out. Your momma’s there. Your daddy’s there. God’s there. Hey, I'm there to help you out!" This never-say-die attitude by this young man is awesome and infectious. Just when you think all is Hell, remember what Apollos said. It is easier to permeate negative feelings and emotions, but why? It's not productive. I choose to see the world as this fiery kid. It helps me sleep better at night! To watch the full interview, log on to www.youtube.com/watch?v=u35mQ_zrBI.
