The Rivalry of Enchantment

The Rivalry of Enchantment played out in Las Cruces last Saturday night.  New Mexico and New Mexico State renewed their football rivalry in a fun atmosphere and put on an entertaining show.  A good, exciting football game, in which the Lobos scored the winning touchdown with just 27 seconds left on the clock. For some UNM fans, the 38-35 win over their in-state rival wasn't convincing enough.  We have had calls this week from Lobo fans unsatisfied with the close win.  Since when was this program good enough for any win not to be a "good win"?  Look, New Mexico State has gotten better – much better in fact.  And it is good for this rivalry to be close… Even have the Aggies win once in a while.  For the Lobos, any win is a good win right now.  This young team, with a very young defense needs to learn how to win.  And having a freshman quarterback lead a game-winning fourth quarter drive, on the road, is a great thing for the program.  Yes, they have a ways to go, but enjoy the win, Lobo fan – especially in a rivalry game.
