Football, Can't come to Soon

Ok it’s all over so to speak… We've finished off the 2013/14 NHL season with a spectacular Stanley Cup Series, where now the LA Kings can enjoy the fruits of their labor and the Stanley Cup for the next calendar year by defeating the NY Rangers. We had the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat slowly creep away into the night with a less than inspired victory by the Spurs over an uninterested and spoiled Miami Heat. Later as we would find out that the free agency of the NBA and its stars namely Lebron James far outweighed even the play on the court, but now that fun is over. Then there is World Cup Soccer I would be remiss as a sports fan and a sports talk show co-host if I left out the month long series and its competition.
That leaves us with Americas past time Major League Baseball, half way through the season now after the All Star Game has been played. I am grateful that it remains here strong as ever to entertain us throughout the summer into Oct. So why do I feel like crying like a preschooler with separation anxiety for the next 50 days or so…could it be I am ready for some Football?!
I have come to find that what I have is an obsession, a malady that can only be cured by sitting in front of the tube on Saturdays for college ball, and Sundays walking my dog promptly before any of the kick off shows. I tingle when I hear promos from CBS Sports for NFL Football, and I get a rush when I drive by the Country Club area and smell the wet grass which reminds me of Lobo football in all its glory good or bad. What can I say? As with the majority of us, it is now in our dna…pizza, beer, bratwurst and fantasy leagues! Bring it baby! Bring it! I'm always ready for some football!
