The NFL Draft has come and gone just like that. There are plenty of players who have a future in the NFL who didn't hear their name called over the weekend. This is the case for local products from New Mexico and New Mexico State. Right after the final pick the undrafted free agent frenzy begins. Teams sign as many players as possible to load up for off-season workouts. Lobo offensive lineman Dillon Farrell (San Francisco) and Darryl Johnson (San Diego) will get their shot. The Aggies had three players, wide receiver Austin Franklin (St. Louis Rams), offensive lineman Davonte Wallace (Miami Dolphins) and linebacker Trashaun Nixon (New Orleans Saints) get the call. While both schools are rebuilding, Bob Davie at UNM and Doug Martin at NMSU, getting players to the next level is a boost for both programs. Running back Kasey Carrier (Oakland) and linebacker Dallas Bollema (Minnesota) received camp invites as well. Chasing your dreams takes time and effort. The journey begins with one simple thing, a chance. That’s what all these players have ahead of them.
