There are playmakers in the state of New Mexico. For head coach Bob Davie at the University of New Mexico and Doug Martin at New Mexico State the question is how do you turn those players into wins? Both teams think they have what it takes to be good on offense. UNM has shown their fans that the last two seasons. Aggie quarterback Tyler Rodgers threw 23 interceptions last year, his first playing at NMSU. Keeping the ball out of the opponent’s hands will determine how far Rodgers can take the Aggies offense. For the Lobos it the question of can Lamar Jordan or transfer Austin Apodaca add some spice to their offense through the air? The biggest impact for both teams will come from their defense. It won’t matter how good either offense is, if teams can run up and down the field on the Lobos and Aggies than good night. Exchanging touchdown for touchdown is how a team continues to finish with a losing record. Who will find the playmakers on defense? That will swing the fate of both programs.
