Holly Holm is going to get a whole lot of national attention over the next few months. Actually, it will be world-wide attention as the Albuquerque fighter is next up for the person who is considered to be the best in the world. Holly gets her shot at Ronda Rousey on January 2nd in Las Vegas. Is Holly ready for this fight? I don’t know. I think by January she will be more ready than she is today. Initially I thought she needed another fight or two in UFC to be ready. But the phone rang, the chance came and Holly had no choice but to accept. I really do feel that Holly will give Ronda competitive fight. It is hard for me to sit here and tell you that Holly is going to beat the woman who is dominating every opponent in front of her. But I do like the way Holly is handling this whole thing. She is handling it with the class and humility that is Holly Holm. She is not going to get into a “smack-talking” war with Rousey. That’s not Holly. She’s not going to tell you that she is going to destroy Rousey. That’s not Holly. But Holly will be confident and respectful; appreciative and articulate. Holly Holm is a star…make no mistake about that. Having followed and known Holly for years, I am thrilled for her that she has EARNED this opportunity. She will represent Albuquerque well. But most of all, she will represent herself very well.
