The Albuquerque Isotopes are helping out the Colorado Rockies in a big way this season. It’s exactly what a minor league team is supposed to do, send players up when injuries or struggles occur. In the outfield is where the Topes made their first big impact. Turf toe has sidelined Rockies OF Corey Dickerson this season. To help fill the void the Rockies turned to Ben Paulsen who despite starting slow at the plate with the Topes was ready to go. All Paulsen has done is hit .323 with four home runs through 22 games. Drew Stubbs hit a rut and there to pick up the slack was the next call up Brandon Barnes. Barnes energy and play has been praised by everyone in the organization. It’s not just the position players, David Hale and Chris Rusin have stepped into the starting rotation and performed. All the Rockies need from their starters is a chance to get their offense going, that’s what both pitchers have done limiting runs against over the last two weeks. Some Isotopes fans might be bummed that the team didn’t win early. What everyone should understand is that they are performing their duties to the fullest.
