I’ve said many times, that I like when good things happen to good people. This week, that happened and it is something that is great for New Mexico and for Albuquerque. Albuquerque Academy graduate Alex Bregman made history on Monday when he was the second overall selection in the Major League Baseball draft. It is the highest any athlete from New Mexico has ever been drafted in a draft…MLB, NBA, NFL…any draft. It is huge for New Mexico. Alex has worked his backside off since he was a kid. He is not the biggest player. He is not the fastest athlete. He is not the strongest guy you know. But by all accounts, there aren’t many people who love what they do more than Alex does, and there are very few who work harder than he does. Former coaches and teammates all heap the same praise no this young man. From all of my personal interactions with Alex and his family, I have always come away impressed with the young man. Alex Bregman is the kind of guy I root for. Good people who do things the right way. I believe Alex will make this town proud for many years. Jump on the bandwagon early. Alex is going to be a great one.
