Connor McGregor allegedly retires on Twitter. The UFC pulls him from his UFC 200 main event re-match against Nate Diaz and Jon Jones returns to the octagon this weekend. There is never a dull moment with the prominent mixed martial arts organization. McGregor was making it rain money for the UFC. He talked the talk and backed it up in the ring winning the featherweight title before jumping into a welterweight title shot against Rafeal Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos got hurt, Nate Diaz stepped in at what became a 170 pound fight (welterweight 155) and McGregor found himself on the wrong end of a second round rear-naked choke. Will it be Jon Jones reasserting himself into the picture? No one has forgotten about the light heavy weight champion thanks to his problems outside of the octagon. While it won’t be rival Daniel Cormier opposite him Saturday night, it will be a former college football player and rising fighter Ovince Saint Preux. The sixth ranked LHW has athleticism and size to challenge Jones. Is Jon Jones an even better fighter now than he was with the belt? Having to face reality and his substance abuse problems, if he is clean now and wasn’t earlier when he still was dominating, what can he be? Saturday night could be a big one for Dana White to get a star back and ready for what’s needed ahead. And by the way Demeterious Johnson, the flyweight champion, who is co-headlining the card is worth every penny. He doesn’t make noise with his talking but his fighting puts him in the conversation as the pound-for-pound best fighter on the UFC roster.
