It has been a long time since Albuquerque boxing has been represented on the big stage, bright lights and nationally televised, not since the late great Johnny Tapia when he could be seen regularly on HBO, ESPN, and ABC etc. Now that is about to change, as announced yesterday Albuquerque native, boxer Josh “the Pitbull” Torres (15-4-2, 7 KO’s) will take on veteran boxer 38 year old Zab Judah (42-9 29 KO’s) on Saturday March 12th, 2016 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. The fight is a 10 round Main Event and will be at a catch weight of 143 pounds. Youth versus experience, as this is a great opportunity for Torrez to show his skills and take on Judah who has a ton of experience but has been out of the ring for a period and is looking to reignite his career, a tall task for Torrez understandably but certainly one in which he will have not just the whole city of Albuquerque behind him, but the whole state as well, sounds daunting but as we have seen before don’t underestimate the heart of a New Mexican fighter. Good Luck Josh!!! The card also will feature a fight between undefeated Las Vegas lightweight Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez and Leon Spinks III. The first bell is scheduled for 6 p.m. – See more at: http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/boxing/re-energized-zab-judah-finally-set-return-ring#sthash.QdKRA6Ck.dpuf
