Every week throughout the college football and basketball season we have CBS Sports analyst Jerry Palm on The Opening Drive, 8:30 a.m., on Thursday. It’s always fun talking about potential tournament teams, whose resume is good enough to get in and whose bubble is about to pop. Palm is on point when it comes to bracket predictions. This season has taken bubble team to a whole new level. With teams all across the country beating each other up, it bodes well for the ‘Power-5’ conferences and the Big East to stack the tourney with bids. It also opens it up to potential long runs from strong mid-major teams; Monmouth, Arkansas Little-Rock, Valparaiso, squads you probably haven’t watched this season but could cause some first weekend havoc. There’s always surprises but this season multiple mid-majors and even a few big name squads who just snuck in could make extended runs. It’s the beauty of the tournament that should only be magnified this year. With the regular season winding down plenty of teams are looking for the momentum needed to potentially steal at bid at their conference tournament. It’s going to be great and I cannot wait.
