Hollymania!
This past Sunday I attended the parade and rally held for Holly Holm downtown at Civic Plaza, and I all I can say about the turnout of fans there to celebrate the new UFC Bantamweight Champion is WOW! I knew this would be well attended, and thought I had given myself enough time to get there, but when I arrived, it felt as if I was attending a huge rock concert, it was jammed packed with bodies that were extremely enthusiastic and excited to listen to what the new champ and Albuquerque’s own had to say. While the crowd got a little impatient waiting through some of the dignitary’s speeches, (the Mayor, Governor, County Commissioner etc.) once Holly hit the stage and took the mic, it was on, and chants of Holly filled the air. I’ve got to tell you that experience was out of this world. I have lived here all my life and have never seen this sort of event held for anyone here from the local area, athlete, entertainer, etc. Albuquerque that was tremendous! Now that the dust has sort of settled down after the fight, many questions linger, like when will a rematch between Holm and Rousey happen? The game plan time and date may not be what was initially speculated due to some of the damage Rousey received, talk that her chick-lets may be bad and she won’t be able to eat an apple for some time. We’ll see, then the other question, when and who Holly will fight next, as she can’t sit on the shelf to wait for Ronda to heal up, do movies, train etc. So we will wait and see, the fight and the end result was dramatic and exciting, but this story still has many chapters to it, enjoy it, it is intriguing, and Albuquerque I believe it plays out well for our Champion!
