I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate UNM Lobo head football coach Bob Davie, his staff, and his players for finishing off the 2015 regular season with a record of 7-5, en route to a bowl since 2007, absolutely tremendous! Watching this team in the 2014 season, there was quite a bit to believe in, though you wouldn’t have known it just looking at their final record of 4-8. However there were huge strides made in areas such as defense, the running game was always powerful and lights out, and other positions showed some great improvements, which gave promise for the 2015 season. As the 2015 season was getting ready to start Coach Davie came out feeling this team could go 6-6 and be bowl eligible, upon hearing that I thought again about last season and how it did look like it was about to turn the corner, so I did believe and buy into what Coach Davie was selling, as many did. There was a huge buzz going over Loboland. After what this program has gone through, an embarrassing three seasons of a record of 1-11, and the frustrating and tedious feelings of waiting for this team to be constructed since Bob Davie took over, here we are watching this team come out 7-5, and again this is tremendous. Ready or not here we are with PROGRESS, it does not get any better than this. More wins than the season before is always a good thing, 6-6 and a bowl appearance is even better and lives up to expectations, but 7-5 with 3 huge wins over conference giants, Utah ST., Boise ST. and Air Force is Awesome! Rejoice Lobo fans, 7-5 every time I say it makes me smile. This record came through belief, hard work and tenacity, it may not have always looked pretty, but you gotta love it…now let’s go bowling!
