False hope? The Lobos are still on track to meet their goal of going bowling. Half way to six wins with six more games to play. New Mexico hosts Hawaii Saturday night in what is a must win contest. Every game for a team trying to establish something has that feeling. For the Lobos every outcome is magnified. A win shows the programs improvement and a loss puts them back to square one. The frustration from the Nevada game is the Wolf Pack controlled the Lobos in all areas of the game. They were strong on the offensive and defensive lines. The Lobos three wins have come against teams who are a combined 0-17. However strength of scheduled, who’d you beat means nothing right now. All that matters is getting to six wins. Once the Lobos are competing for a spot in the college football playoff, we’ll dissect how good their wins are. But until that day it’s one step at a time for Lobo football. Saturday the Lobos have to strike early, find their form and put the pressure on Warriors to respond.
