Buck Stops Here

From money games to upsets, the Mountain West is not in a good place right now with football. Last week the conference was 0-10 against FBS opponents. An area that’s easy to point out, problems at the quarterback positions. Boise State, the conference juggernaut and mid-major darling, is even facing issues at the quarterback position. Once the QB position was what made the MW one of the best conferences outside the power five. Derek Carr at Fresno State; Cody Fajardo at Nevada; David Fales at San Jose State; Chuckie Keeton at Utah State; and the list goes on. Now poor play and injuries has affected every team. New Mexico, with questions swirling around their offense ahead of their conference opener at Wyoming, could be in the best position with their signal callers. And that says it all about the state of the conference. This weekend at least two teams will win because of conference play. There’s still plenty ahead this season to turn a dud into something respectable. Who’s going to make the turn? Right now a dart board with team logos could be the best answer to that question.
