A major shift in many people’s lives occurs this week. Yes, the calendar flipped to September on Tuesday, and the kids are back in school, but that’s not it. The fact that college football starts this week, and the NFL begins next Thursday marks a major shift in the lives of people and families across North America. Guys, I hope you took your significant other out to that play, concert or fancy dinner sometime in August. Ladies, I hope your man took care of that “honey-do” list last month, because now, weekends are going to be spent by many, riding the couch. It’s an amazing phenomenon, actually. I’m not telling you it’s good or healthy; it’s just the way it is. This country has a fascination with football. We love watching our team, their team….ANY team. We love playing fantasy football, draft kings and maybe even placing a small wager on games. Don’t tell us about the Gala this Saturday night, or the dinner party at our friend’s house, or heaven forbid, a wedding in the Fall (who on earth has a fall wedding conflicting with football any more). If you want to find most of us, check the sports bar, the stadium or the couch. And if you want…you’re more than welcome to join us.
