Stranger than Fiction
I am a huge fan of sports movies and television shows, and it is always an easy subject to bring up with friends, sports fans, listeners etc. Asking the ever important question, what is your favorite sports movie and or show and why? That’s not what I’m going to do here, we’ll save that for another time, but I bring it up, because lately I’ve been checking out a series on HBO called Ballers starring The Rock. A series about a professional football franchise out of Miami Florida and all the shenanigans that follow the players, ownership etc. Much in the vain of the old 70’s movie North Dallas Forty, which I have talked about before, since that is my favorite football movie of all time. In watching and thinking of these shows/movies and how they are loosely based on some real situations, there is no better show than what is playing out right before our eyes than with the Tom Brady vs. the NFL otherwise known as (Deflategate). That is something I don’t think even the best Hollywood screenwriters/producers would have concocted, and that’s a bold statement coming from the land that brought us Cop Rock. I’m not going to get in all the details, and give you my Deflategate opinion, there is too much to tell, it changes every day, it’s convoluted, and you can hear us talk about it on the air. Here is what I will say, truth is stranger than fiction, when I woke up one morning and heard about deflation of footballs, and the drama, mudslinging, immaturity, sometimes hilarity that has and still is following the situation, I think to myself this is the best football movie ever made without having to go to a theater and play 20 dollars for a large popcorn topped with yellow sludge, and a huge cup of syrup mixed with ice, I will also say than we’re only have way through the flick, at this time I want to thank the NFL for the great play on the field, and for also adding in this extra bit of entertainment, not well thought out enough, but hell I am entertained.
