HELLAVEDOVA!
I’m sure I’m not the only wool in the media today to use that term when talking about Matthew Dellavedova the 6’4″ 200 lbs Australian born point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who has suddenly become one of the key story lines in this year’s NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Ah what the heck? It’s a fun series so far and certainly a surprise, and this kid has a lot to do with it, he is fun to watch, and is suddenly making a huge difference in how the CAVS have been able to pull away with a 2-1 series lead over the more healthy, stacked and favored Warriors. In game 2 many anointed him a top notch defender for the way he worked on 2015 MVP Steph Curry, making him struggle and not hit the shots he racks up easily game in and game out. Myself and my co-host Michael Carlyle didn’t quit buy into the hype and suggested that it was more Curry against Curry, him not being comfortable and finding his groove. Well after what happened last night in game 3, I must give the devil his due, I’m sold, I watched Dellavedova score 20 points, get 5 boards and four assists, he seemingly grabbed every loose ball, hustled hard and constantly pestered Curry with his defense again, it was an admirable performance. So while this series is not over by a stretch, it is awesome to see a youngster step it up and be there when he is called upon, and play gritty blue collar type of ball as the city of Cleveland he plays for. For now I will just say cheers to who I’ll call today Mattew Hellavedova!
