King of the Court
LeBron James has done it again, taken his team The Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals for a second time since the 2006/07 season in which they lost to the San Antonio Spurs. Now he takes an entirely different group of guys forward into battle against one of two very tough teams from the Western Conference the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets, that series still under way. I must admit over the years I have been very critical at times of James for a number of reasons as many people have, for such things as “the decision”, leaving his home state of Ohio for a ready-made championship team in the Miami Heat. Also James has sometimes not always said the right thing making him appear as a heal of sorts. Coming out of high school St. Vincent-St. Mary out of Akron, I wasn’t sure I bought into his hype, now in 2015 watching James grow up in front of our eyes I must say I like what I see. When he returned to Cleveland I knew he would get the Cavaliers to the Finals at some point, I did not think it would be this year, I must say he/they have exceeded my expectations. Having a difficult task this year with chemistry problems early on with team mates, the head coach, injuries and the media microscope I’ve got to give credit where credit is due. LeBron James has carried this team and this city on his back never wavering, and helping to build up the confidence and drive of a young team, that is what a leader does. If it appears I’ve come full circle on James I have, I am not crowning them champions for this season yet, a team from the West will have something to say about that, but they don’t call him King James for nothing.
