The Cowboy Way
I was a child of the 70's and I do recall when the Dallas Cowboys were really America’s team. Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers being the team of the 70's, there was nothing like the hype of the Cowboys. Back then, it was big. Big like the hair, big like the cars and big like Friday night TV shows like Dallas which showed a flyover of Texas Stadium in its intro. Through the 80's the Pokes lingered, then had a serious resurgence in the 90's under head coach Jimmy Johnson. Suddenly someone did shoot JR, and oddly enough I think it was Cowboy owner Jerry Jones himself. Now they did when win three Super Bowls under his ownership, but as of late the wheels have seemingly fallen off the Cowboys covered wagon. No longer is this team the perennial champion it once was. No more bragging rights for the Lone Star State. They are not even worthy of the controversy that made great movies like North Dallas Forty, which was loosely based on the Cowboys back in the day. Now they are just a ridiculous joke and a circus sideshow of the NFL, a team very important to the NFL, but needless to say, not what it used to be. The team has talent. They have some great players and they still have tons of love from across the nation, but they also have the ultimate enemy to themselves and that is their owner. Jerry Jones is the ultimate hovering parent that will not let his child go potty on their own. It's embarrassing! Someone needs to give this guy an intervention, stop him from himself. You can't tell me the ultra-successful Texas business man made it by micromanaging and not delegating. Jerry, step away from the team. I know you’re the owner and you can do what you want, but for the love of God and the Cowboy Nation, of which by the way I am not a part of, let go. Let them play and maybe someday it will be back the true Cowboy way!
