NFL
Greetings to all!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week! Those who believe in God can often be overheard telling individuals who are going through trying times that God only gives one what they can handle. With this in mind, it's clear to me that the football gods happen to know just how popular the NFL is, because what they have dealt with and are dealing with right now would be enough to sink those pretenders across the street known as the NBA, MLB, NHL, etc. There are several cases which could be dissected and analyzed for an abundance of missteps by the league, but for simplicity and clarity let's look at the most "popular" of all current legal run-ins, Adrian Peterson of the Vikings. News came down earlier that Peterson, after being reactivated by Minnesota brass on Monday after sitting out Sunday's loss, is once again on the outside looking in as the Vikings have decided to place him on the little known Commissioner's "exempt" list. The Vikings have determined that, after further review, the ruling on the field did not stand and Peterson's alleged child abuse is too much of a danger to burden any longer. As I sit back and watch all of this take place though…it's sad to read between the lines and know that, without a doubt, the cuts and bruises and blood stains on the 4-year-old boy wasn't enough to make someone sit Peterson down indefinitely. Nope, it took Radisson Hotels pulling their advertising dollars and other companies either getting in line or threatening to do so. NFL executives aren't the only ones to be ashamed of. Fans, without the power of sitting or not sitting Peterson, also seem to consider the actual child abuse secondary. If you were to pour truth serum down the throats of most NFL diehards they wouldn't be worried about the boy either… At least relative to the worry they have about their fantasy team this weekend as they try and scramble to find a suitable replacement for a scoring machine and former NFL MVP in Mr. Peterson. Yep, just another day in the life of the American psyche.
Take care and have a great week!
