Believe the hype. The World Cup is taking the United States by storm thanks to the play of the U.S. national team. Advancing to the Round of 16 was a done deal. The U.S. had a 2-1 lead over Portugal in the 95th minute of the game, it was over. In a split second Cristiano Ronaldo found Nani on a beautiful cross. Nani headed it past goal keeper Tim Howard, 2-2 tie, now the game was over. The outcome kept the U.S. in position to move on but it felt like a loss to everyone behind the red, white and blue. America doesn't do ties. Now the U.S. faces their managers’ country, Germany. A win or draw moves USMNT on to the next round. Jurgen Klinsmann said before the World Cup that the U.S. had no chance of winning. That's not a way to win over soccer fans on the fence. What he's saying leading up to the Germany match is what people want to hear, the U.S. will not make a deal for a tie, they are playing to win. As fans put the final pieces of their shattered hearts back together just in time for the morning kick-off on Thursday, there is still room on the bandwagon. A month from now soccer won't be the number one story in America. That's fine, every four years more and more people are believing the hype. Why fight it?
