Tony Gwynn

Greetings to all!!

I hope everyone has had an excellent week! With the untimely passing of Tony Gwynn this week…it came with shock and surprise of both the death of the man..as well as the narrative surrounding him. We've been overloaded with stories regarding Tony's gratitude, his generosity, his infectious smile, etc. All of which I'm sure are true given that they are so incredibly prevalent. I think I may be the only one though that didn't hear wonderful things about Tony Gwynn all the time. Through the connections I've had in the media…I've heard just the opposite on occasion. Maybe Gwynn was having a bad day? Maybe I was being lied to for the sake of making a good story? I have no idea. I do know though that there are enough personal anecdotes out there and the man was a great enough baseball player that I'm going to dismiss those stories and focus on the good. A good that I never got the privilege of experiencing directly, but I did indirectly through my many interactions with his son, Tony Jr. I have a hard time believing that an A-hole could've raised a young man like Gwynn Jr..who I found to be the nicest and most inviting interview that I've ever conducted. I feel for him this week…and I feel for baseball. RIP, Mr. Padre!

Have a great week!
