The NFL takes place this week with the first round Thursday night. The Mountain West is not known for start NFL players but there are plenty of names to watch out for this weekend. Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr, Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence and Nevada offensive tackle Joel Bitonio are all potential first round picks. Colorado State center Weston Richburg will be selected by the second round. Just like that four Mountain West players could hear their names called in the first two rounds. Former New Mexico offensive lineman Dilllon Farrell hopes to hear is name called but just wants a shot to make an NFL roster. Farrell, a recent guest on The Opening Drive on 610 The Sports Animal, said the feedback has been positive from teams. He played multiple positions on the offensive line finishing as the teams starting center last year. The NFL draft is the most popular inexact science. Being a first round pick doesn't guarantee anything. It's about hard work and opportunity. There are plenty of players from the Mountain West with that chance awaiting them this weekend.
